PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. • Cardinals righthander Adam Wainwright had given up just one run in his last eight innings this spring but the New York Mets tagged him for four runs in the first inning Friday.
Curtis Granderson doubled, Asdrubal Cabrera singled and Yoenis Cespedes delivered a sacrifice fly for the first run.
A couple of wild pitches and a two-out single by Jay Bruce accounted for the second run. Lucas Duda's double, which left fielder Jose Martinez was unable to run down, kept the inning alive and Neil Walker then lined a two-run double to chase home Bruce and Duda and make it 4-0.
