It was an extremely eventful year in St. Louis sports media. There were firings. There were hirings. There were a couple notable deaths.
All these developments, as unpleasant as some may be, are staples in the business. But in the big picture, 2020 was unlike any other for life in general as the coronavirus pandemic not only shut down sports for months but also altered life worldwide.
That certainly was the big sports media story of the year locally and nationally. But there also were two major St. Louis happenings that bookended the pandemic-related sports shutdown. The year began with the remarkable ratings success of the BattleHawks and winded down with the monumental news that Fox Sports Midwest, where St.
