It has been more than two months since Diamond Sports Group, the division of Sinclair Broadcast Group that runs 19 regional sports cable television networks operating under the Bally Sports banner, filed for bankruptcy. Cardinals and Blues telecaster Bally Sports Midwest is a key part of that portfolio.
While there has been no significant noticeable impact thus far for BSM viewers, the long-term future of Sinclair’s regional sports business is to be addressed next week in bankruptcy court.
Bally Sports Midwest is one of Sinclair’s strongest regions, as BSM annually generates viewership levels for its St. Louis pro teams that are in the top five nationally among all Major League Baseball and National Hockey League clubs.
