Mayers becomes the first Springfield Cardinal to throw a complete-game shutout since June 4, 2010, when Brian Broderick blanked the Corpus Christi Hooks. Mayers also becomes the first Cardinal to deal a complete game in general since Seth Maness on June 12, 2012 against Arkansas.
The final out in Mayers’ complete-game shutout tonight was made by former Springfield Cardinal, Charlie Cutler.
