What with the "Media Views" columnist being "on assignment" for the next couple weeks, as they sometimes say in the sportscasting business (translation — vacation), we'll take a look ts some of the notable athletic events coming up on TV before Labor Day.
• On Saturday KPLR (Channel 11) televises the St. Louis Derby, the biggest race of the season at FanDuel Sportsbook & Horse Racing — the track in Collinsville formerly known as Fairmount Park. The stakes event has a purse of $250,000. Coverage runs from 10-10:30 p.m. The station showed last year's race, which was not much of a draw.
