CHICAGO • The Cardinals had the offense they wanted, the tie game they needed, and still couldn't find a way to leave Wrigley Field with a win.
For the third time in as many games, the Cardinals had an early lead, lost an early lead, and then fell to the Cubs. A game comeback in the top of the sixth inning to the tie game went nowhere in the final three inning as they lost, 7-6, on Sunday night.
Jon Jay, the Cardinals' former center fielder and leadoff hitter, slashed a single to left-center that scored Anthony Rizzo and broke the tie.
