The All Star break could not have come at a better time for young Cardinals reliever Jordan Hicks. As of the All Star break in his first season on the big league club he had appeared in forty-four games and thrown forty-eight total innings. As of that point, Hicks was on pace to appear in almost seventy-six games and throw nearly eighty-three innings. According to the Fangraphs Leaderboard, Hicks is twelfth in innings pitched among all relievers. That is a lot of innings for a young pitcher and this update will show they might have taken a toll.
