In tie game, Cardinals new shortstop gets first hit

JUPITER, Fla. • While the star players have trickled out of the game toward the clubhouse, the Cardinals and Marlins were tied 2-2 entering the eighth inning of Sunday's Grapefruit League exhibition game at Roger Dean Stadium.

The Cardinals missed a chance to snap the tie in the bottom of the seventh, when Anthony Garcia grounded to third with the bases loaded. That inning featured new Cardinals shortstop Ruben Tejada's first hit as a Redbird. He turned a Jose Urena pitch into a single up the middle.

Derek Dietrich's sacrifice fly to center field off Cardinals reliever Seth Maness in the sixth inning erased an advantage provided by a Marlins' error the previous inning.
