Fifty years ago, Orlando Cepeda was the leader, both spiritually and Most Valuable Player-wise, of the Cardinals team that would become World Series champion. Hall of Famer Cepeda, who hit .325 with 111 runs batted in when those figures meant more, had been acquired from the San Francisco Giants during the 1966 season for former 20-game winner Ray Sadecki.
