Hudson's Tommy John surgery puts his 2021 in doubt, raises questions about Cardinals' planned rotation

A 2020 season that has been both a test and a testament of the pitching depth within the Cardinals’ organization had yet to end when uncertainties facing them in 2021 began.

Starter Dakota Hudson will have elbow reconstructive surgery Monday in St. Louis, and it’s possible he’ll miss the entirety of the 2021 season as he recovers from the ligament repair procedure known as Tommy John.

Hudson adds to a growing list of questions for the Cardinals concerning their future rotation. Adam Wainwright, its leader this season, will be a free agent. Miles Mikolas, an All-Star in 2018, will be coming back from forearm surgery.
