PHOENIX • Aledmys Diaz, who is three for his last 18, with two of the hits on the infield and who struck out twice and hit into a double play on Monday, is out of the Cardinals’ lineup Tuesday night and young Paul DeJong, who had three hits on Monday, is at shortstop against the Arizona Diamondbacks.
DeJong is hitting .286 with a .524 slugging percentage in 23 games. Diaz, an All-Star Game selection last season, is hitting .260 with a modest .293 on-base percentage and .396 slugging mark. Greg Garcia, a lefthanded hitter, will be at second base.
