JUPITER, Fla. • Jordan, aptly named, might just be walking on air.
On Friday, the 11-month journey from the operating room to the pitcher's mound will be complete. Jordan Schafer is scheduled to pitch an inning for the Cardinals in Friday's first spring training game.
It only took 11 months to return from his ligament repair, “So it's been a fairly quick turnaround,” said Schafer, who will try again to make the club as both a lefthanded-throwing pitcher and a lefthanded-batting outfielder. “I've put a lot of work in to be able to healthy and be ready by this point – I'm just excited to get back out there and compete.
