Herzog suffers minor stroke but already is back home

Cardinals Hall of Fame manager Whitey Herzog, who will be 88 in November, suffered what was termed a “minor stroke” Monday during his charity golf tournament at Forest Hills Country Club. But after being hospitalized Monday night and part of Tuesday, Herzog was allowed to return to his home in Sunset Hills.

Herzog had complained of being lightheaded while on the course. “It was awfully hot out there,” said his son, Jim Herzog. “They were taking some pictures and he just got confused and we took him to the hospital and checked him in.
