JUPITER, Fla. • The man who would be closer for the St. Louis Cardinals sees the ninth inning a lot like the team will coming into the season.
It’s a collaborative effort, a co-op, not something he was deeded.
Luke Gregerson, a former Cardinals farmhand who is returning years later as a seasoned setup veteran, made his first appearance of spring training Tuesday at the team’s Roger Dean Stadium facility. A majority of the club’s pitchers and catchers were present for report day, and they are all expected to be on the field Wednesday for the first official workout of 2018.
