All of the positioning and shifting and prioritizing the Cardinals have done the past two seasons to improve their defense, and they came just a shoestring catch shy of snagging a new Gold Glove Award designed to honor the game’s top good-hands club.
Rawlings, a St. Louis-based sporting goods company that has presented its Gold Glove awards since 1957, unveiled the team Gold Glove awards Friday night on MLB Network, and presented one to the highest-rated overall defense in each league. The Chicago Cubs edged the Cardinals in the scoring, 21.9 to 21.6, to win the first NL Team Gold Glove Award.
