Home opener was a bust for the Cardinals on the field on Thursday — and for Gioia's Deli at the concession stand.
Among the new concessions introduced at Busch Stadium this season was the 100-year-old Hill restaurant's renowned hot-salami sandwiches. But Gioia's owner Alex Donley announced Friday that he no longer would allow the restaurant's product and brand to be used at the ballpark.
“It was brought to our attention that the service and product quality standards that we adhere to were not met at the home opener,” the announcement on Gioia's Facebook page reads in part.
