Jaime Garcia didn’t have a ball as a souvenir. He thought he probably should have saved one but he said, “I’m already preparing for my next game.”
Garcia is acting under the assumption that his victory Tuesday night won’t be the last one of his career — a career that seemed as if it might be over a couple of times because of continued shoulder issues.
But the Cardinals’ 6-4 win over Arizona at Busch Stadium was his first in the majors in 345 days.
At times, on Tuesday, his outing wasn’t the most artistic. Yet, overcoming some loose play by Cardinals defenders, including himself, the lefthander finished strongly to log six innings.
