JUPITER, Fla. •_Jaime Garcia went to the minor-league fields last Monday when his scheduled start came up so that he could work on some issues that were affecting his command. The payoff may have come Sunday when Garcia faced the Miami Marlins’ regular-season starting lineup.
For four innings, Garcia didn’t allow a hit before he was nicked for J.T. Realmuto’s bloop single with one out in the fifth, followed by a run-scoring double by Adeiny Hechavarria. A wild pitch and an infield out enabled the Marlins to tie the score at 2-2.
Garcia, who appeared to be receiving attention from the team’s trainers between the fourth and fifth, came out of the game after the fifth.
