Garcia fans nine through six scoreless innings

Lefthander Jaime Garcia struck out nine through six scoreless innings Saturday as the Cardinals maintained a 2-0 lead over Pittsburgh at Busch Stadium.

Garcia had at least one strikeout in each of the first six innings and had three in the second.

BALL DOESN'T LEAVE INFIELD BUT CARDS SCORE 2

The Cardinals scored two runs without a ball leaving the infield in the second inning to jump ahead of the Pittsburgh Pirates Saturday at Busch Stadium.

With one out, Pirates righthander Charlie Morton walked Kolten Wong and then Jon Jay, making his first start in more than two months, was hit in the right hip area by a pitch.
