Matt Carpenter insists it's his swing, not the leadoff position, that sparked him to hit two home runs in the past two days.
Today, Carpenter remains at leadoff and his bat remains hot. After hitting a single to start the game, Carpenter smacked a hard line drive into right field to lead off the third inning. Phillies right fielder Aaron Alther was unable to make what would have been a difficult catch and Carpenter recorded his second single of the game.
Dexter Fowler, hitting in the second position for the second game in a row, advanced Carpenter to third with a double to right.
