ATLANTA -- The Cardinals will be without Bud Norris for at least the opening game of their series against the Braves as the veteran reliever gives a callus on his right middle finger additional time to heal.
Norris, who did not throw at all on Monday, is hopeful that the area will harden quickly enough to allow him to pitch later in the three-game series.
"It's pretty tender," Norris said. "I just have to monitor it the next couple days."
The ailment is not an unfamiliar one for Norris, who developed similar issues numerous times when he was a starting pitcher.
