The DH is half a position, the forfeited side of a pitcher. For pitching requires devotion, so much such that they relinquish their half inning of existence to a sort of baseball player. One who just hits. And with such a name for a position, it sure makes one think, wow this must be a good hitter! I spent much of my formative years in awe of the steroid era.
