Sports website Deadspin took the St. Louis Cardinals mascot Fredbird to task this week for posing for a photo while holding a sign that said "police lives matter in a story titled "Your Racist Uncle Will Love This Picture of The Cardinals' Mascot."
The article said Fredbird "wouldbe the one sports mascot to attend an event hosted by the St. Louis Police department and hold up a 'Police Lives Matter' sign."
Hinting that any defense of the Cardinals would be "crypto-racist," Deadspin went on to say they emailed the Cardinals to ask what was required to get Fredbird to attend an event.
