JUPITER, Fla. • At first blush the word “RED” on the T-shirts the Cubs are wearing around their spring training site in Arizona appears to be a jab at their archrivals, the bathed in red Cardinals.
“IN BLUE OUT RED,” the shirt reads.
But it’s not what you think.
The “BLUE” is not a reference to the Cubs and the “RED” is not a reference to the ‘Birds, and despite the Cubs openly discussing their intentions to dethrone the division champs this season the phrase has nothing to do with the Cubs being the “in” team and the Cardinals being “out” dated.
