CHICAGO — As the starting pitchers began their warmups by playing catch in Wrigley’s outfield Monday afternoon, manager Mike Shildt took his usual subhed contemplative seat in the Cardinals’ dugout before the swirl of the game filled it. From that vantage point he could see both pitchers, the Cubs' Kyle Hendricks in center and Cardinals rookie Johan Oviedo in the right-field corner.
One of them he and his team know all too well.
The other, they’re just starting to find out what they have.
Hendricks, a starter with a feel for his pitches and who he is as a pitcher, continued that voodoo that he does so well against the Cardinals.
