In the bottom of the ninth during Wednesday night’s game, the Cardinals led six runs to none against the Milwaukee Brewers. Carlos Martinez had pitched a gem so far, blanking the Brewers by striking out ten, walking two, hitting one batter, and allowing only four hits. With one out in the ninth and a runner on first, Martínez was nearing 120 pitches and had a shutout on the line. On his 114th pitch of the game, Carlos coaxed a lazy groundball to the third baseman Yairo Munoz, who had just came in the game the half inning earlier to spell Matt Carpenter and shore up the defense.
