Cards' Flaherty has struck out many Brewers but has whiffed on victory at Miller Park

MILWAUKEE• Jack Flaherty, Friday night’s starter for the Cardinals, never has had a decision in two previous starts against the Milwaukee Brewers at Miller Park. But he should have had at least one victory.

In two outings here last year covering 12 innings, Flaherty gave up seven hits and two runs, walking three and striking out 22, or nearly two per inning.

Flaherty was 8-9 in his rookie year and the Cardinals were only 11-17 in his 28 starts although Flaherty’s earned run average was a solid 3.34.

On Friday, the 23-year-old will be opposed by Milwaukee righthander Freddy Peralta, who is not related to Wily Peralta, who always seemed to face the Cardinals when he was a Brewer.
