Cardinals notebook: Redbirds' schedule turns in their favor

When they played the Miami Marlins on Monday night, the Cardinals began a stretch of 20 games against teams with losing records, a period stretching through July 4. Of course, the Cardinals had a losing record themselves, 32-33, at the time.

Besides three contests at home with Miami, the Cardinals will go to Atlanta for four with the equally disappointing Braves and then to Detroit for two with the Tigers. Their final homestand before the All-Star break has four games with last-place Pittsburgh and three with last-place Arizona. And then they have four against another second-division team, when they play at Colorado over the July 4 weekend.
