With a 10th All-Star honor in his pocket and the trade deadline over, catcher Yadier Molina hopes to engage the Cardinals in conversations in the near future about a contract for 2022 to avoid the experience he had this past winter as a free agent for the first time.
“Yeah, that was a tough time,” Molina said after batting practice. “I don’t want to go through that again. The idea is to get something done early and see what can happen. That would be great. That would be good. That would be awesome.”
Molina reiterated his hope is to play one more year — for the Cardinals.
