Cardinals notebook: For one game anyway, it's Carlson 2, Goldy 3, Arenado 4

At least as important, if not more so, as Paul Goldschmidt hitting third and Nolan Arenado fourth for the Cardinals for the first time Friday was that rookie Dylan Carlson was promoted to the key No. 2 spot in the order.

Carlson had hit second only twice in 2020 and not at all this year. But he had hit for damage with three doubles, two triples and three homers for an .889 OBP and manager Mike Shildt likes damage from No. 2.

Besides, Goldschmidt will hit where he has hit more than any other position in his career.
