The Cardinals began Sunday what should be a week of turnover and retooling in the bullpen, but as telling as any arm they’ll add was the two feet locked in walking boots that morning.
At different times before Sunday’s game, lefties Brett Cecil and Ryan Sherriff ambled into the team’s clubhouse with a foot encased in a protective boot. Sherriff joined Cecil on the disabled list Sunday, and that leaves the Cardinals without a second lefty in the bullpen as Milwaukee and Travis Shaw visit, Joey Votto looms later in the week, and a lefthanded batter upended Sunday’s game against Arizona.
