With three outs between the Cardinals and the curiosity of a spring no-hitter, Dexter Fowler snapped it with a leadoff, line-drive single. Fowler, Goldschmidt and Paul DeJong – the Nos. 1, 2, and 3 hitters in the Cardinals’ order — played the entire game, and not one reached base safely until the ninth, when they all did.
