Max Scherzer, Zack Greinke … and J.A. Happ have something in common. Excluding the shortened 2020 season, those three starting pitchers are the only ones in the majors to have posted 10 or more wins for seven successive seasons.
Happ gained his 10th of 2021, half of them with the Cardinals, for whom he is 5-2, with his longest outing for the club, working 6 1/3 innings, allowing three runs but walking none and striking out seven on Thursday.
With Dylan Carlson’s two homers and two extra base-hit-saving catches, that added up to a 4-3 win over Milwaukee at Busch Stadium as the streaking Cardinals head toward postseason with a one-game winning streak and, oh yes, 18 wins in their past 19 games and 20 in their past 22.
