BALTIMORE • While several of their early picks continue to play this week in the College World Series, the Cardinals have started signing and assigning picks from last week's amateur draft.
The Cardinals confirmed the signings of 13 picks Monday, and in the coming days many of them will cycle through Jupiter, Fla., for the start of their professional careers. The Cardinals have had to move fast with some of their assignments because short-season clubs are already beginning their seasons. State College, the short-season Class A club, has opening night Monday, and Johnson City will follow with its home opener Thursday.
