Cardinals cough up lead late, remain at 69 wins following Wednesday’s loss at Milwaukee

A day after clinching the NL Central, the Brewers awoke from their post-celebration slumber this morning and faced the stark realization that they still had to go to the ballpark and face Richie Palacios and the St. Louis Cardinals.

That sentence, from start to finish, is not one that I thought I’d be writing six months ago. Not in a million years.

Here are the lineups for the Cardinals and the Brewers tonight in Milwaukee:

Cardinals:

  1. Tommy Edman, 2B
  2. Jordan Walker, RF
  3. Luken Baker, 1B
  4. Juan Yepez, DH
  5. Lars Nootbaar, CF
  6. Ivan Herrera, C
  7. Juniel Querecuto, 3B
  8. Richie Palacios, LF
  9. Masyn Winn, SS

Zack Thompson - SP

And the Brewers:

  1. Sal Frelick, RF
  2. William Contreras, DH
  3. Tyrone Taylor, LF
  4. Victor Caratini, C
  5. Rowdy Tellez, 1B
  6. Andruw Monasterio, 2B
  7. Blake Perkins, CF
  8. Brian Anderson, 3B
  9. Brice Turang, SS

Wade Miley - SP

Welp, the Cardinals got up, then surrendered that lead thanks to a few bone-headed defensive plays, and then had a great chance to win it in the ninth.
