LAS VEGAS • The Cardinals on Monday added right-handed depth to their bullpen options by claiming 24-year-old Ryan Meisinger off waivers from the Baltimore Orioles.
The 6-foot-4, 235-pound Meisinger debuted in the majors last season, making 17 relief appearances and one spot start that went very poorly. His ERA (6.43) overshadowed a total of 21 strikeouts in 21 innings. Here's how.
Meisinger's lone major-league start on Sept. 26 lasted one-third of an inning. The 11th-round draft in 2015 out of Radford University surrendered four hits and five earned runs against the Boston Red Sox before securing the second out of a game that turned into a 19-3 loss.
