Breaking baseball color barrier focus of STL Browns fan meet

On Feb. 23, the get-together will feature a roundtable discussion about the notable place St. Louis' old American League team holds in the integration of professional baseball in the U.S.

On July 20, 1947, two weeks after Larry Doby of Cleveland became the second black player, after Jackie Robinson in 1946, the Browns became the first team in history to field two black players in a game.

Outfielders Willard Brown and Hank Thompson (who had become the third black in baseball when he played for the Browns on July 17) both started a game on July 20 against the Red Sox.
