Bowman returns to DL, admits to not being 'totally forthcoming' about blister problem

PHILADELPHIA • The blisters that have caused Cardinals reliever Matt Bowman such troubles this season are only the outward signs of a deeper, painful, and often numbing sensation that returned Monday, he acknowledged to the team late that night.

The Cardinals placed Bowman back on the disabled list Tuesday afternoon because of chronic blisters on his index and middle fingers and a vasospasm that is limiting blood flow to the tips of the fingers. Bowman has been diagnosed with Raynaud’s Syndrome, and it’s a serious reason why his fingers have an ashen look and a frostbite-like feel when he tries to grip a baseball.
