There's a chance Trevor Rosenthal has fired his final triple-digit fastball as Cardinals closer. His season-ending elbow injury will require Tommy John surgery. And everyone, including Rosenthal, knows his future in St. Louis is now in question due to the timing of the setback.
"It's just the business side," he said.
There's a chance the closer for the 2018 Cardinals isn't currently on this roster. Even if Rosenthal remains, he is expected to miss most if not all of next year, meaning the Cardinals might need to move closer to the top of an offseason shopping list that has grown rather daunting.
