Meet Austin Martin, a 22-year-old business major at Southwest Baptist University. You probably saw the photo of his Jason Heyward T-shirt jersey — the kids call them "shirseys" — going up in smoke. The image went viral Friday.
"People are saying I'm not a real fan because I burned his shirsey," Martin said by phone. "I don't understand that at all. Am I supposed to be happy for him that he went to the Cubs? That just doesn't make sense to me."
A while back, Martin told his buddies he would set the shirt ablaze if the Cardinal turned free agent signed with the team Martin loves to hate.
