Major League Baseball on Thursday decided to stop sawing through its nose to spite its face, and look at the result.

Months of self-inflicted damage began to heal.

Grinding of teeth gave way to cheers for the salvaging of a 162-game season.

Wringing of hands turned into applause and high-fives.
