BenFred: Facing Scherzer, Cardinals' offense calms some concerns

The Redbirds entered Monday's Grapefruit League game against the Nationals with the fewest spring training runs, period. Their 68 ranked 30th.

As a club, the Cardinals were averaging .251 (23rd). Their on-base percentage read .330 (19th). And they were slugging .406, which checked in 26th.

The Cardinals ranked 28th in hits (133), 24th in doubles (29) and 26th in home runs (15), of which Tyler O'Neill had mashed four.

It's risky to overreact to spring training, let alone one game (which the Cardinals won 3-2), but here are some observations about the Cardinals' offense to this point:
