A scuffling club in the midst of a jarring road trip can’t stick its nose up at any victory. The Cardinals badly needed this one after back-to-back, character-testing losses in Milwaukee. But not completely overshadowed by the snap of a three-game slide was another box score filled with concerning signs.
Remember, this was a group of veterans like Matt Carpenter and Molina — along with manager Mike Matheny — believed they could become one of the best during their time with the team.
