As sweet streak ends with sour result, Shildt touts first-place Cards as a 'hungry group'

They ended that portion of the calendar by going 12-4 and overtaking the Cubs to hold a two-game advantage in the division with 30 games to play. Throughout that stretch the Cardinals asserted what they illustrated in a loss Wednesday – while the Brewers were scrambling to get back into the race, the Cardinals were never out of the game, until the end.

“We look for the same things, win or lose,” manager Mike Shildt said.
