SAN FRANCISCO • Perhaps sniffing his first shutout of the season and the second shutout of his career, Lance Lyn was willing to do whatever was necessary to get a glove on a groundball skipping slowly back to the mound.
The result did what the Giants haven't been able to today.
It knocked Lance Lynn from the game.
Lynn's right ankle gave way as he tried to steal a hit from Juan Perez in the eighth inning. Lynn's throw to first was wide as his ankle buckled and sent him to the ground, not too far from the mound he just left.
