Angels jump Gallegos in the ninth, hand Cardinals agonizing 6-4 loss

There’s not been much to root for if you’re a St. Louis Cardinals fan lately. The birds have won two series this year and are 10 games back in the NL Central for the first time since..... I’m not even sure. However, Wednesday night’s game was bound to be a good time — not because of the Cardinals, but because Shohei Ohtani was on the mound for the Angels.

Here are the starting lineups for the Angels and Cardinals, with the aforementioned Ohtani on the mound and also batting third.

Angels:

  1. Zach Neto, SS
  2. Mike Trout, CF
  3. Shohei Ohtani, P
  4. Anthony Rendon, 3B
  5. Hunter Renfroe, RF
  6. Brandon Drury, 2B
  7. Taylor Ward, LF
  8. Giovanny Urshela, 1B
  9. Chad Wallach, C

And for the Cardinals:

  1. Lars Nootbaar, RF
  2. Paul Goldschmidt, 1B
  3. Nolan Gorman, DH
  4. Nolan Arenado, 3B

The Cardinals, to their credit, continue to find new ways to lose each and every night.
