Following a 45-pitch live batting practice session Friday at Busch Stadium, Cardinals starter Adam Wainwright had an idea of where he could take the mound next as he works his way back from a groin injury that has delayed his start to the season.
“I think they said Tuesday. Springfield maybe,” he said in response to question about a possible rehab start moments after facing Cardinals teammates pregame on Friday. “I’d like to hear for sure, but I think that’s what the general idea is.”
Prior to the start of the Cardinals’ game against the Pirates, Wainwright faced a group of hitters comprised of Lars Nootbaar, Juan Yepez, Taylor Motter and Andrew Knizner.
