PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. • Outfielder Anthony Garcia, swinging the most productive bat in Cardinals camp, tripled to score Brayan Pena with the Cardinals’ first run in the second inning of an exhibition Saturday against the New York Mets.
Garcia, who has four doubles, a triple and a homer among his seven hits this spring, connected off 42-year-old Bartolo Colon after the Mets had tagged Tyler Lyons for two unearned runs in the first. Garcia's RBI was his club-high sixth.
Lyons allowed hard contact throughout the inning, including a 405-foot drive to the warning track by Michael Conforto and a monstrous foul by Yoenis Cespedes, who then lined to second.
