Cardinals Rumors: Cardinals an ideal trade destination for David Price?

In today's Cardinals rumors and news update, one Sporting News writer believes that the St. Louis Cardinals make the most sense as a landing spot for Tampa Bay Rays ace David Price prior to the July 31st trade deadline.

According to Ryan Fagan of the Sporting News, "with four trips to the World Series in the past decade (and two titles), anything short of a championship is a bit of a disappointment in St. Louis, and Price gives the Cardinals their best shot over the next two seasons, even if they let willingly him walk as a free agent after 2015."

The St. Louis Cardinals would likely have to give up a monster haul in return including some combination of Oscar Taveras, Shelby Miller, and Carlos Martinez. Sources around the team indicate that the team is reticent to part with those players, especially without a guarantee that Price will stick around after 2015.

However, Fagan believes that's a risk that the Cardinals need to take in order to add a Commissioner's Trophy or two to the shelf in the interim.
