History repeats itself. In general, Stanley Cup champions and Stanley Cup finalists do not.
It wasn’t always that way. Heck, the Montreal Canadiens played in 10 straight Stanley Cup finals from 1951-60. The Habs won five in a row from 1956-60. Montreal won another four from 1976-79, followed by four straight by the New York Islanders from 1980-83.
